If you want to head off-registry to get a gift for a newly engaged couple or a married pair, what could be better than a set of custom monogrammed stationary or bath towels with their new initials embroidered on? When a couple is getting married, a reminder of their new bond through small daily things can be a thoughtful touch. Not only will they reflect on their relationship and new family, but also on the kind reminder you gave them through your thoughtful monogrammed gift.

One obvious gift for an engagement is a set of personalized note cards or monogrammed stationary with the couple’s new initials. The wedding preparation involves a lot of thanking. Besides the required thank you note cards, there are letters of thanks to bridesmaids and groomsmen for their help, a note of appreciation for the wedding photographer that went the extra mile for the perfect photographs, and a letter to a relative that traveled an extraordinary distance to witness the nuptials. The gift of note cards can help the future bride and groom get a head start on the gift thank you cards that will inevitably be cropping up.

Besides monogrammed stationary, there are other gifts that are great for engagements and weddings alike. One choice that is popular these days is to get the couple matching monogrammed robes. These are especially great for the bride on the day of the wedding. She’ll be hanging out with her bridesmaids and family all day as she prepares for the ceremony. A robe is great, as she probably won’t slip into that dress until the last possible moment.

Along that same vein, matching slippers with the new initials sewn into the front are another sweet touch to give the couple. After spending months or a year preparing for the big day, the newlyweds will just want to be off their feet for a long time. Your gift will surely be on their feet as they do.

A gift that would be appreciated before the wedding would be monogrammed accessories for the reception. A personalized cake knife and serving tool would be a great touch for the reception, as they can hold on to it as a memento or as serving utensils. Getting a guest book that matches the theme of the wedding and is decorated with the initials of the couple is also a nice touch, as takes one more thing off of their to do list before the wedding.

Although personalized napkins have always been present at weddings, they were seeing a decline in the 90s. The idea of putting your names on napkins or monograms on matchboxes seemed quaint, and most couples settled for solids. Nowadays, many couples are trying to keep their personal touches on everything at the wedding, from the table numbers to the invites. To help make the event really personal, many couples are heading back to monogrammed touches on every surface they can find at their wedding.

Using personalized napkins at your reception is a great little touch that everyone will remember. There are so many possibilities for the napkins. Many couples choose to use their monograms on the napkins, as it is the first time they can do so. Other couples use just their first initials, especially if they are each keeping their own last name. Another choice is to create an image using your initials. This is like another take on the monogram, but more modern. You can intertwine the letters to create an interesting shape, or use the letters to create an image. You can even mold the letters into another image, cleverly hiding your initials to all but the most observant.

The extra touch of personalized napkins shows your guests that you have thought through every detail. It is a way to tie together all of the elements of your wedding. In this day and age, everything is branded. Products, companies and even people create an image or an idea of their products or personalities and stick by them. You should consider doing the same with your wedding and reception. You are not trying to sell something, obviously, but if you have a unifying image or motif running through, it will help make the day a coherent package that will be remembered by all of your guests. You will be able to sit back later and pat yourself on the back for bringing together so many different elements into one beautiful day.

You can create any sort of napkin you like by talking to the company you are working with. Ask them if there are any limitations – there probably aren’t! Colors on the rainbow and off are available for napkins, as well as a variety of templates for monograms or names as well as the ability to personalize. You will be thrilled that you chose to add another little touch of you to your wedding.

Finding a thick paper at a good price is important when planning your wedding invitations on a budget. One of the biggest costs, however, is the printing. There are several options for what kind of printing you can choose, the results and feel, and the price. Finding the right printing technique is a great way to work your budget and create a beautiful memorable wedding invite.

Engraving is the most traditional printing technique for wedding invitations. This technique is also the most expensive when it comes to lettering for wedding invites. Engraving is accomplished by incising a design onto a hard surface, like a printing plate. The plate is then inked. The paper is pressed into the plate so that it picks up the ink in the grooves of the plate. The final effect is raised inked letters on the front of the invitation and indented lines on the back of the paper. This time-consuming and expensive technique also requires a thicker paper to be used, which adds to the total expense.

Another option that mirrors engraving is to use thermography for your wedding invitations. Thermography is created by dusting a powder onto wet ink and then melted. This technique creates a raised texture, but the initiations do not have the indented lines on the back of the paper. The letters do end up having a shinier look to them versus engraving. These are the only differences between engraving and thermography, but they are small details that many people today might not even notice. Thermography can also be done on a wider variety of paper, which can reduce the cost even further than engraving.

A third printing option, lithography or off set printing, uses ink but the letters are not raised and are not indented through the back of the paper. This is less costly than engraving or thermography. This printing technique is used often when printing brochures or other printed materials for the business world, so most people know the technique. The technique lets people print directly on to the paper using heat-set inks. The results are smooth, with no raised lettering. Colors, however, are easy to manipulate and not costly to change. This technique is great if you plan on using a photo on your invitation itself, as lithography is great for reproducing photographs.
Understanding the printing techniques is important in order to find the right style and cost for your big day. Enjoy the search!

Going green is not just a goal these days, it’s mandatory! With threats of global warming everywhere we turn, it seems like everyone is under pressure to reduce their global footprint. While finding the perfect eco friendly stationery can seem like a small step, it’s still a great way to start thinking about the environment.

There are a few key things to think about when looking for the best eco friendly stationary. The obvious first step is to find a recycled paper for your note cards and envelopes. There are many varieties of recycled paper, and they vary from paper with a bit of recycled fibers to 100% post consumer waste papers.

Many papers use virgin fiber, which is not ideal when looking for eco friendly stationary. Virgin fibers mean that the paper uses only fibers that have never been used by a manufacturer. A tree that was felled was then put directly to use in order to create the paper you use. This is wasteful, but it does create a paper with a very smooth and strong surface.

Many recycled papers contain a certain percentage of post-consumer waste. This means that a certain percentage of the fibers used to create the paper come from items that were procured from a recycling program. Those fibers were saved from a landfill, allowing you to benefit by creating beautiful writing paper. There are also some papers that contain pre-consumer waste. This means that fibers used to create paper products were recycled before being used. They were either rejected as flawed items and then recycled or they were scraps left over from manufacturing.

There are also a lot of great paper products on the market that don’t use tree fibers, which take much longer to grow and have a bigger environmental impact when logged. Bamboo, hemp, cotton and flax straw papers are all great choices for easily sourced and grown fibers for paper.

Chlorine is another environmental consideration when looking for earth friendly note cards. Chlorine has been found to have adverse effects on humans and animals alike, with negative effects being noted in animals’ reproductive systems and immune systems. Totally chlorine free paper is where the virgin fibers are not bleached at all, or are not bleached with chlorine or its derivatives. This is a great environmental choice. There are also processed chlorine free papers and elemental chlorine free papers. Processed chlorine free papers use recycled content which is unbleached or bleached without chlorine. Elemental chlorine free papers use a chlorine derivative, which is less harmful than chlorine itself but is still a bad choice for the environment.

By simply opening the letter and holding it, your reader can make a stronger bond to you through your message (something that’s hard to do with a keyboard).
